Ferrari F40’s are to be raced, right?

The Ferrari F40 – A racing car right?

The Ferrari F40 to me personally is the king of all super cars bar none, you may disagree with me but you can’t deny how bloody good it was and still is to this day, give me one of those  over a modern super car. With most Ferrari F40’s fetching circa £1mn and posters of said car having adorned a lot of young boys bedroom walls, it is considered a dream car by many and dream cars by nature tend to be rare…so rare in fact you wouldn’t ever consider racing one, would you? John Pogson of Italia Autosport would…

John is a humble guy with a classic car servicing business in Yorkshire doing what can only be described as the work of the supercar gods. XCar Films have put this great film together detailing John’s business and motorsport accomplishments, he talks in detail about how her got his break into the Ferrari racing series.

It’s clear John has a passion for classic Italian sports cars and his shop Italia Autosport specialises in caring for and race prep-ing the very special Ferrari F40 among others. Italia Autosport has become the place for F40 owners to take their cars for servicing, tuning and restoration. It wasn’t long until John was in the right place at the right time and got the chance to race a customers car, impressing on them so much that they agreed to let him loose in their Ferrari F40 for the season. In that season John and his team knocked up numerous wins and went on to become a formidable force in the Ferrari racing series. He is a hero and defenitly made of Yorkshire grit to not think twice about jumping into the F40 and blatting it around the track trading paint with other racers. Surely this man has the ultimate dream job, servicing stunning Italian v12’s by day and racing by night or err weekend.

DREAM.BUILD.DRIVE – Engineered to Slide Hilux Build

DREAM.BUILD.DRIVE – Engineered to Slide Hilux Build

A Toyota Hilux isn’t something that would usually feature on District AutoClub but Nigel Petrie from Engineered to Slide is next level and his build is simply outstanding. Nigel had a dream to build his own car one day and no not just take a car and bolt bits on but literally build a car from scratch, the ground up, a blank sheet of paper…something only the bravest of car builders would ever attempt. And to add more pressure, this isn’t just a show car, something that get’s wheeled in off the back of a truck for shows, this Hilux was destined to go sideways and go sideways very fast my friends.

Nigel and Engineered to Slide epitomise everything good in car culture, this film oozes passion, emotion and that all important dream. Sit back and immerse yourself in one mans final steps to build his ultimate drift weapon from scratch and realise his vision in a documentary showing the dedication Nigel puts into this build, from the initial concept to the trials and tribulations of his first outing

Magnus Walker’s TED Talk

Go With Your Gut Feeling – Magnus Walker’s TED Talk

If you’re reading this blog then it’s likely you have heard of Magnus Walker and his Porsche Passion. Magnus is an inspirational Porsche character and is a true car guy so when he was invited to speak at a recent TED event my ears pricked up and I couldn’t wait to hear what he had to say. Magnus Walker’s TED talk is inspirational not only if you are a car guy but if you are ambitious about following your passion and making your dreams a reality.

It is awesome to see a car guy like Magnus getting recognised and invited to talk to an attentive TED audience at UCLA, he followed his passion for Porsche and has rightly earned the position of being one of the most respected vintage Porsche builders and hot rodders out there.

Magnus Walker‘s TED talk and story have been well recorded in the documentary Urban Outlaw but I never get tired of hearing it, Magnus followed his gut and is now living his dream…what I took away from his TED talk is – chase your dream, take those leaps of faith and follow your gut.

BMW 2002 – It’s a family thing

BMW 2002 – It’s a Family Thing

On a recent trip to Cornwall in the UK’s South West, wandering round a 6 stall charity car boot sale in the picturesque seaside town of Boscastle I scored the find of all finds…”BMW The book of the Car”, published in the early 80’s the book documents the history of BMW from the 1920’s until 1984, how rad. There’s no hiding from the fact that I am a vintage/retro BMW nut so you can imagine my excitement when I spied the book from a mile off and made a beeline right for it, £2.50 later I was the proud owner of a book I’m yet to put down.

I’ve touched on it before but my crazy nutness for BMWs come from my childhood growing up around the white and blue propeller, both my Dad and Grandad have always owned them and now I do. I find a lot of our influences come from the people around us and more often those close to us have the biggest influences over what we come to love. Cars and the affection for a particular marque is one of them.

Patrick Burns love for the BMW 2002 has been passed down from his Dad, Wendell. In a recent Cars I see film, the love, passion and infectious dedication to what was considered a game changer for BMW is brilliantly captured. You’ll be left with the sound of a throaty BMW 2002 exhaust note ringing in your ears and the want to go on eBay and snap up your very own 02.
